So you think its easy to go out and shoot a video yes? Lets say it is. Once you have shot it, got the product home, you realize that you have missed some close ups you needed, or some angle which works better. Now you have to shoot it again and recreate the same setup you had originally to be able to edit together everything you needed. hmmm, now its getting complicated. Really, it is simple as long as you prepare what you are looking to get. So here are some simple steps to help you. Write your script first. What are you saying? Then once you have the story, visualize the film. See what angles are going to work best. If you cant visualize it, then think of taking at least 4 different angles of a product or place, in all different sizes. Be sure to have everything covered on each shot. Then think about what the weather has to be if you are shooting outside. Does it have to be rainy or sunny? Does the sun cast shadows where you are shooting, if it does be sure to always have the shadow in the same place. Are you looking for certain background? Waterfront? Fall leaves? What tells your story the best. Once you have all the peices together, go ahead and give it a whirl. The beauty of shooting video today is that it doesnt cost anything to wipe your card clean and start again.
